Season of Stewardship and Commitment 2023
From the Vestry
Our lives are inspired and strengthened by a simple truth: God has blessed us with the gifts of creation and community. We are rooted in the beauty and wonder of all creation; and our lives are rooted in one another, in a community.
When we open our hearts and hands to share, we know we exist in a circle of security and care. We know we have everything we need to survive and thrive. All that we are and all that we have are rooted in abundance.
During our Season of Commitment and Stewardship we remember that our life of faith is a grateful response to God’s generosity — to God who loved the world so much that God gave.
We love because God first loved us. We give because God gave first. This is what it means to be a good steward of St. Thomas Church. Our lives, our labor, and our mission are devoted to loving one another and to loving the world…as God loves.
2023 SEASON OF COMMITMENT
We begin the 2022 Season of Commitment with deep Gratitude for God's Grace which has seen us through this difficult year, and a sense of Generosity as we look towards our future. Your vestry and priest at St. Thomas have continued to serve faithfully to maintain our connection during this time and, you too, have been faithful.
Beginning this week and over the next four weeks you will be receiving emails that introduce you to this year's campaign with a hope for our future. These emails will include links to the St. Thomas webpage that will include the campaign announcement letter, video testimonials from fellow parishioners, letters of reflection related to stewardship and a link for making online pledges.
We invite you to prayerfully consider what gifts of time, talent and treasure that you are able to share to help us become stronger Christians and stronger Christian community partners. Thank you for being a part of St. Thomas and for your faithful, faith-filled gift to our annual campaign.
In the spirit of generosity and love,
Steve Prenger
Chair of the Vestry
Vestry Member
Vestry member, Lee Sease speaks of three gifts from God he received this summer, and how these gifts inform his understanding of stewardship his church. Lee reminds us of the Vestry’s goal of 100% participation, 35 pledges (five more than this year), and the $100,000 needed to fully fund our 2024 operating budget.
“Roots” of St. Thomas
The Rev. Canon Augusta Anderson served as guest preacher this past Sunday. She shared refreshing stories about the inspiring “roots” of St. Thomas Church, especially what she knows firsthand about our spiritual DNA, and how she believes our values and strengths make us a unique witness in our community and world.
