2018 Junior Master Gardener Camp
July 16 @ 8:00 am - July 20 @ 5:00 pm
Cooperative Extension Service, Dig In! Community Garden, and The Abbey outreach initiative of St. Thomas Episcopal Church join efforts to offer a unique day camp experience for young people in our area.
The Junior Master Gardener (JMG) event is an innovative 4-H youth project modeled after the highly popular Master Gardener program. JMG offers horticulture and environmental science education through fun and creative activities. Young gardeners are introduced to the art and science of gardening, and supported to develop leadership and life skills, forming them to be good citizens within their communities, schools, and families.
Youth will learn and work at Dig In! Community Garden, at the pollinator gardens at The Abbey, and visit at a variety of other locations such as the Orchard at Altapass and Mount Mitchell Park. We’re pleased that beekeeping will be included in this year’s curriculum. Campers gain credits toward their Junior Master Gardener certification with support from area Adult Master Gardeners and other qualified mentors.See flyer below for registration information.
